The error I received was that the command that I entered was not recognized as an external or internal command. Originally I thought that my AUTOEXEC.NT file in the windows system32 folder was corrupted some how. So I replaced the file with a copy of my AUTOEXEC.NT file from my other computer, which runs the same OS.. XP Pro... Unfortunately No Dice.
After a little research I thought maybe the Path in the Environmental Variables settings was the problem. Lord and behold it was. This is how I fixed it.
On your desktop or from start menu right click 'My Computer'
Select 'Properties'
Select 'Advanced' tab
Click 'Environment Variables'
Now look in System variables (in the lower window)
Click 'Path'
Now click Edit
Edit the Value to this below and click 'OK'
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%
Copy and paste in a notepad what you have in there before edting it, if this doesn't work.
This fix is for Windows XP Home and Pro Edition using one OS on my system.. I'm not sure the proper syntax for other operating systems.. sorry
Hope this helps for the ones that have the same issue.
